PP.D3: Pointillism Word
Materials
Sewing Needles Sharp Pencil Clay Needle Tool 9x12" drawing paper 30 points Due Friday, March 24th |
Create a word using Pointillism.
Must be six - ten letters. Draw your word on a piece of copy paper. Make your letters "bubble" or more than a single line thickness. Go over it in black marker. Two options for getting word onto project: 1) Tape the paper BACKWARDS to the back of your project paper. 2) Trace the word BACKWARDS with pencil onto the back of your project paper. Poke through the back side of your project paper so that the texture is on the front. We also do it this way so that there is no pencil visible in our design. Your project should have nothing but texture holes. Your word can be either positive or negative space. Show a range of value by changing the density. Show contrast by changing the tool size. If you have a large amount of empty space, fill it with design/pattern. Mount to a black 10x13 paper to submit. Graded on effort, neatness, and successful execution of the technique No color! |
PP.D4: Abstract Paper Sculpture
Crunch up multiple 9x12" papers.
Hot glue them onto a 11x17" (trim 12x18) any color HIDE ALL GLUE SPOTS. Do not have globs of hot glue visible, do not have glue strings. Use acrylic paint to add interesting dimension and contrast. Color optional. There should be high contrast (between lights and darks). Glue it to 12x18" construction paper, any color but choose high contrast (not black on black). There should be a 1/2 inch border around your project. Graded on following instruction, participation, and interesting design. 20 points Due Wednesday, May 3rd |
MP.D1: Spirit/Myth Portrait (Onto)
Materials
Face Molds Plaster Gauze Cardboard Acrylic Paint Found Objects Any additional supplies Graded on creative and interesting symbolic interpretation of spirit/myth, effort, and creative construction.
50 points |
Create or reinvent a face that represents a spirit or myth.
Must find three art references of your myth/spirit. (references can be any medium, paintings, sculptures, etc.) References Due April 5th 10 points Start with a mask mold in plaster. Secure it (hot glue, more plaster, etc.) to a cardboard back ~ 12x12" Plaster is a great sculpting medium. Must add at least three other 3D materials (other than plaster and the cardboard backing) ex: wire, modeling clay, fabric, ribbon, found objects, tin foil, fake flowers, etc. Paint is not a 3D material. Materials should be chosen to add to the symbolism of the myth. Ex: using real sea shells for a water spirit, or using fake greenery to represent a forest spirit. Construction should be neat and hot glue MUST be hidden. I will take points off for messy construction and hot glue mess. |
