Bring in a cereal box.
Cut up and recreate the image in a Surrealism style. Leave small negative spaces. Leave enough of the main imagery intact that we can still see what the brand or image is. Glue stick onto construction paper. Keep imagery near each other so that the image does not go into complete abstraction. They should be visually similar and appear to belong as a set, but are individually different and show creativity. You may use watercolor pencils and/or regular watercolor. MP.C3: Repetition and Emphasis Artwork
Materials
12x18" paper Repeat (Repetition) a design in black and white. Neatness is extremely important for the successful visual effect of repetition. Design should fill and "overflow" the canvas. There should be equal visual weight of Contrast - black and white. Choose a small area as the Emphasis by finishing it in color. You may introduce a new image for the emphasis. Totally open for theme and style. Fill the canvas. Start with pencil. Finishing medium up to you - sharpie/marker recommended. Graded on NEATNESS, effort, creativity, interesting and dynamic composition, successful execution of Emphasis, Contrast, and Repetition. You should not be finished with this project in a couple days! |
